Neurodiversity is a term to refer to the idea that everyone has different experiences, there is no right way of thinking, differences in brain function are natural, every human has different unique nervous system, and it recognises and celebrates the natural variation in human brain functioning!
Autism Spectrum Disorder (commonly shortened to autism) is a genetic neurodevelopmental disorder that affects an individuals' social skills, behaviour, and and how they learn. Symptoms include abnormal eye contact, delayed language skills, hypersensitivity to the five senses, stimming, and more.
Dyslexia, (previously known as word blindness), is a learning disability that affects either reading or writing. Every individual who may experience dyslexia experience it differently. Dyslexia is caused from genetics and environmental factors.
Trauma, (also known as psychological trauma), is an emotional response to events that may cause distress. Symptoms may include panic attacks, insomnia, flashbacks, nightmares, etc. Everyone gets trauma for different reasons and experiences it differently.
Developmental disabilities is an umbrella term for a diverse group of chronic conditions. Developmental disabilities affect many peoples' lives, especially in language, mobility, learning, self-help, and independent living. The most common developmental disabilities include dyslexia, Tourette's Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and more.
Oppositional Defiant Disorder (commonly known as ODD) is listed in the DSM-5TR under Disruptive, impulse-control and conduct disorder. Symptoms include often losing temper, is often touchy or easily annoyed, is often angry and resentful, often argues with authority figures, deliberately annoys others, etc.
